Science on Tap Vol. 7, baner balewadi
Human brains, can they be hacked? For centuries philosophers have debated the existence of free will. Neuroscientists now think that free will is a myth and the way we think, talk and behave is essentially an outcome of neural circuits in our brains. So, are we mere robots of flesh and blood who will behave as per defined programs? And can these circuits be hijacked by parasites so that we basically become slaves to their commands? Come find out whether you are who you really think you are, or just a puppet for parasites in your head. Dr. Nishikant Subhedar, a professor in Biology working at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research will help you understand your brain better. Pune ‘Science on Tap’ started as an idea to bring together scientists and the public in a casual environment. The aim is to get people talking about science while having a beer, and to help everyone realise that science and scientists are neither scary nor boring. Great State Aleworks is proud to be associated with Science on Tap, Pune. Great State Aleworks is a Pune based craft brewery whose perpetual preoccupations include craft beer, food, and music. There are no prerequisites for this talk and it should be understandable to most.
